Many thanks for the support of all concerned in our first Dressage to Music evening and for the kind attendance of Former International and list 1 Judge Sally Lidsey. Also the riders who took the time to show their demonstrations for us all, on their beautifully presented horses. As two of the newest members of the club and pretty much beginners it was great to have the opportunity to see such demonstrations up close and it has certainly left us with the thought that there is much room for improvement with both ourselves and our novice horse “Cluedo” (Maybe time to book a few more lessons)
The evening presented us with lovely weather, although a bit colder than we would have anticipated for an August night. It all began with a group demonstration with horses of varying sizes “dancing” to the set music. It was interesting to note how different music matched different horses strides and how Sally made excellent observations with regard to the choices of music.
Much amusement was caused to all present by a few technical hitches with the electrics causing the music to be perhaps a bit more unpredictable than our riders anticipated! But they all showed total professionalism and coped wonderfully with continuing the demonstrations
It was a great evening for non-riders too – I bought my future mother-in-law! They love to see horses up close just not so keen to ride them (sometimes I think they might have the right idea)
The evening was rounded off by a great buffet, provided by the members, which gave us all a chance to catch up, socialise and discuss perhaps where improvements to our riding could be made
Thanks to all for providing the evening and we look forward to the next social event with anticipation
